Who should apply?
You can apply if you have, or expect to obtain, at least an upper second-class degree (or equivalent for EU and overseas candidates) in a relevant subject. Candidates with other relevant qualifications or research experience should contact us regarding eligibility.
UK and EU Settled Status applicants
UK citizens and EU Settled Status residents receive full funding, as detailed here.
Overseas applicants
A small number of fully-funded positions are available for overseas (including EU non-Settled Status) applicants.
English language requirements
If your education has not been conducted in the English language, you will be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency. The English language level for this programme is Level 3.

Are transcripts necessary?
Transcripts are not required at the application stage. You may be asked to supply transcripts if you are shortlisted for interview, or offered a place on the programme.
Does my age matter?
No.
Are travel costs covered for interviews?
Yes, we can support travel expenses (economy class) for shortlisted candidates where needed.
What are my career options after this programme?
Students in similar programmes have gone on to postdoctoral positions in academia, or taken positions in industry, in charities, policy making, technology transfer, science journalism and teaching.
Do I need to contact a prospective supervisor before applying to the programme?
No. Students on the programme will spend their first year rotating around labs before choosing their supervisor, so this is not necessary.
